My personal mission is to foster systemic thinking, storytelling and roleplaying in a private and professional context.
I
believe we are on the verge of an age of creative minds:
Systemic thinking enables us to see the
whole picture, not just a single angle. It helps us understand how the pieces
of the puzzle interact – forming a picture which is more than the sum of its
parts.
Storytelling conveys experiences and
thus provides context to what would otherwise be lifeless knowledge. Thus it
imparts direction and meaning to events and to histories – facilitating learning,
development and growth.
Roleplaying allows us to explore
different aspects of ourselves, real or imaginary facets of our personalities
and functions in society and in life. This keeps us reflecting consciously on
who we are and what we do – coping with the expectations others have for us and
the choices we have to make.
In the
age of creative minds, these three techniques are applied for purposes of economy,
education, and entertainment.
We employ systemic thinking to cope with
complexity – empowered by systemic thinking we can even learn to trust so as to
reduce complexity. In our professional lives, we use storytelling and roleplaying
for leadership and learning, collaboration and communication. At home, we use
storytelling and roleplaying to bring joy to children, and to gather and entertain
friends and family members with histories and make-believe that stimulate our
creative minds.
